Note #1

People with power are prone to abuse their power because they can fail to sympathize with people without any power. As a result, they may see those without power as resources to achieve their goals. They can avoid this by trying to understand others’ circumstances and being more careful not to abuse their power, which may lead them to give up some of their power.

Note #2: What it means to need a “little help getting started in life?”

Children face new challenges every day. Feeling intimidated by unfamiliar situations, they may almost give up. That’s when a little help or encouragement from their parents or other adults can help them overcome their frustration. Even grown-ups need this little help when they get started in a new environment because with pre-existing responsibilities and obligations, adapting to new circumstances can be daunting. A little help from others, from simply asking “if everything is okay” to financial assistance, can greatly alleviate their burdens by letting them know someone cares about them. Moreover, by receiving this little help from others, they are likely to help others in need since they know how effective it can be.
